Its does save temporary files and if you menu over an open !EmailEdit 
window and take the Misc option are two options available one called 
recover backup and the other for saving (backup) text.

In fact before typing this I tried the recover text option (since I 
have never actually used it before!) and it dropped a previous editted 
email I had used in this mailing list into the window I then used the 
undo facility to take it back to your original email.

This is on Messenger Pro 6.03, the facility has been in for awhile 
IIRC.
