Handling large attachments

Anything but the smallest attachments fail to debatch in !Messenger 
(under RISC OS in VRPC in Windows 8.1), whereas they download on to my 
tablet without any problem.  However, it's not just a !Messenger 
problem, because similarly-sized files, when transferred from Windows, 
cause !NetSurf also to fail for lack of space.  Is there some setting 
in RISC OS or VRPC which will enable me to allocate more space for 
these functions?
