It will always convert an html part if it's present and if you select
it. If there's no plain part it displays the converted html part.

That's tough. There are plenty of plain text messages on the net.
I assume that the html part doesn't get updated in line with the plain
text. You can forward a message from the converted html part.

If I remember I delete the html part and any unwanted images.

The worst messages contain a null text/plain part or a default
text/plain part that doesn't reflect the text/html part. Sometimes
there is a text/plain part but it is unformatted or it's much worse
than if Messenger had converted it. Some mailers create a text/plain
part by stripping out html tags but leaving all the style content and
escaped characters.

There is a problem with Messenger when it comes to converting escaped
characters. I had a message today which contained — in the
text/plain part but the converted text/html part failed to display the
m-dash.

I don't want a "user experience" - I just want stuff that works.
