While you can use templates as Jeremy describes, for simple chunks of text
you might want on hand to insert into emails, you might just consider using
the Insert>Text From File feature instead of templates. Write your bit of
text - like the directions to your house - in a text editor and save as a
simple .txt text file. Then, when writing an email you want that text in,
when you reach the point in the email you want it, just go to Insert menu,
Text From File option and pick the appropriate text file. The text from the
file will then be inserted into the email at the cursor position. So you
would have a directory where you keep the assorted .txt files (named so you
know which is which) to go to with the Text from File command while writing
emails. (It can be handy to think, when writing emails, if you are writing a
part you may want to use again; if so, before sending the email, select the
bit you've just written you might want to re-use, copy it, paste into a text
editor, then save as a text file in your directory of snippets for future
use.)

Just an alternative suggestion. As often there's more than one way to do
things, and which is more suitable depends on the individual's exact needs
and tastes. If you want basically a specific special layout with common
content, beginnings and endings for certain emails, you are probably best
off with templates and macros; if you just want to insert a single block of
text (one or more paragraphs, but in a single block), then perhaps .txt
files kept in a directory that you use Insert->Text From File with may be
the simpler way to go.

Regards,

David
