Further experimentation: if I disable "Use RAM disc or Memphis ..." I
can edit once more, so it is the scrap or Memphis directory that's
being complained about, it seems. Now, what can I do about this, I
wonder?

I tried creating a sprite called ExMsg to put in RAM or Memphis, but
I've never understood how to create a sprite, and in any case that
would presumably be only a temporary cure.

Best wishes,
