I'm starting a thread here on this list because I've often seen the
same thing in other contexts than email attachments, though I've never
established exactly when it happens and when it doesn't.
I have a file on the Windows side, I do SOMETHING with it on the RISC
OS side, and it acquires the additional comma-extension, which of
course prevents even the relevant local Windows application from
understanding it.
It's easy enough to remove the comma-extension again, if and when it
becomes apparent, but it's still a nuisance, though less serious than
when it prevents the recipient of an email being able to open
attachment.
Further discussion on the messenger-l@... list concerned the
desirability of ROOL providing a more complete MIMEMAP file,
separately from complete new !Boot and OS builds as it shouldn't need
to be updated very often.
