'Remove text from subject when replying' not working?

Replies: Re: 'Remove text from subject when replying' not working? (Richard Porter)

In the "Message editing" section of choices, there is an option to
"Remove text from Subject when replying".

This doesn't seem to be working for me; am I setting it up wrong or
expecting the wrong thing?

I have put various strings into the text file (called 'Subject'),
saved it (and restarted just in case). But when I then hit reply to a
message containing one of those strings in its subject, the string
remains in the reply.

I have tried strings suffixed by a colon like "Out of Office:" and
also without a colon like "SpamStamped" but neither get removed.

Using Messenger Pro v7.08.

NB The StrongHelp file says "This allows the use of the Subject file -
opened by clicking on *Edit*... This file contains a number of lines
of text and each line is removed from the Subject when replying to an
email. So for example if you have a spam filter which puts text into
the Subject indicating that it is spam, adding that text to the
Subject file will automatically remove it when replying."
