If you have a crash, don't just reboot and let all your applications
automatically restart, it's a recipe for for disaster.
First Boot up pressing shift or escape, then run a check with DiscKnight
to ensure the disc structure is ok.
Then restart your major applications one by one, and if there is any
unusual activity, immediately stop them, and investigate further.
Ensure any automated backup is disabled until you are completely sure
everything is working. Also remember that if you do regular backups, you
should also try regular restores - when things go wrong is not the time
to find out your backup is not complete.
