Aha, it's not quite as simple as I thought. I have a message part of
which I see as:
We’ve helped put public ownership on Grayling’s agenda – now we
need to show the huge support behind it!
Tweet your support for a public East Coast line

Read and share on email

agecoach)
Grayling definitely hasn’t given up on rail privatisation and he’s
just awarded a contract to Virgin on the West Coast line, despite
their recent failures (check out the story with a quote from us in the
Mirror (https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tories-award-lucrative-
rail-franchise-11974873) ). We need to dig deeper into his proposals.
In EditEmail it looks OK apart from the escaped characters (the
original message is utf-8). However in the incoming message I see the
closing bracket in blue (i.e. part of the URL) for the links ending in
648, 952 and 873 but NOT stagecoach. The stagecoach link works but the
others don't unless I remove the bracket.
There's no obvious difference in the text/plain part other than
stagecoach ends in letters rather than numbers. It doesn't seem to
matter if the links are followed by spaces or newlines.

I don't want a "user experience" - I just want stuff that works.
