Re: Gemini and XHTML in emails

Oh.

Scrub the XHTML theory.

Checking the latest emails exhibiting the problem I desribed, a couple of
them were !Doctype HTML (4), not XHTML. So that can't be the problem.

Looking at 'view source' in IE9 after opening some of the problem ones from
Gemini, I can see why. in the browser, the images aren't there, why what
should be links are just text, and why the layout is broken. Every =" is
missing in every html tag. So each link is hrefhttp instead of href="http,
every image tag goes srchttp instead of src="http, and so on in the
formatting tags and attributes.

As Gemini's own html email display is showing exactly the same errors - no
links where they should be, format upsets, missing image places etc - this
must be a Gemini fault of some kind. Using message source view in Gemini
shows the correct html tags - which renders correctly in the browser if I
just copy the message source - so it can't be AVG's processing of the email
before Gemini gets it. For some reason, with these emails Gemini is messing
up its own processing of the HTML in the emails, both for its own display
and when exporting it to IE9.

But I still have no idea why this suddenly started a few weeks ago. Or why,
since it started, it's been happening consistently with HTML emails from
some sources, and not with those from others.

So I also have no idea whether finding the money to upgrade to MPro would
resolve the issue.

Any suggestions appreciated.

David
