How long had you had 2.69.2 installed and in use before this happened - I
mean, had it seemed fine for weeks, or did it happen the first time you
tried that version?
If it's been days/weeks, what else has changed recently on your machine? Eg
- MS's monthly fixes for Windows have just been released - do they
auto-install on your machine? Did the crash happen before or after that?

I'm pretty sure "Not Responding" is inserted into the title bar of a
hung/busy app, any app, by Windows, and I think it happens after Windows
sends some info ('a message') to a GUI app and doesn't get that
acknowledged. ICBW.
It's not necessarily always an indicator that that app has a problem;
sometimes it can mean that something else on the machine has gone wrong, but
Windows hasn't yet handed the app (that's been flagged Not Responding) back
control.

I wonder what MP rebuilds in the absence of Groups, so that this could work.
