I think what you have done is resent the message but the original one 
is still sitting in the queue. I've had this happen because of an 
error in a distribution list and I had to dig out the control and data 
files and delete them. I think they were in POPstar's mqueue directory 
but as I haven't got this issue at the moment I can't check.

If you're using POPstar you probably have it polling at 30s intervals. 
Try quitting it temporarily. I don't know what Hermes does.
