I think you need to tune your spam filters so they are not diverting 
ham messages to your spam folder. You may need to do this through your 
ntlworld control panel but I don't use that ISP so I can't help there.

This is not strictly a Messenger problem. What transport are you using 
(POPstar, AntiSpam, Hermes/Netfetch, etc)? POP or IMAP? You can poll 
more than one mailbox if necessary. You can decide which messages to 
download and which to delete off the server.
