In principle yes.

You may need to mount the directory with !Newsdir by NFS.

That's no good news. :-(

Running !Messenger on various machines on your local network may be
possible, but you risc that two or more instances of !Messenger
access the NFS mounted !Newsdir at the same time, which will IMHO
lead into trouble.
