We may be in for a raft of problems related to sound sampling rate on
newer hardware.
I use a Raspberry Pi 3B+, and I have CPUClock set up to switch between
600 MHz and 1400 MHz according to processing demand. The system beep
comes out OK when the speed is 600 MHz, but sounds bad when it's 1400MHz.
My guess is that the sound system doesn't account for the clock frequency
shift.
I looked up the sampling rates for HDMI sound earlier today. The slowest
is 32 kHz, which is four times what older machines did. It must be less
of a problem than I first thought, though, because my system beep comes
through a new monitor connected by HDMI.
I couldn't see a *command to change the sound system's sample rate. Does
anyone know of one I've missed?
David
