It's up to you to create a Spam folder and filter if you want them.

You can change your PlusNet spam settings online. I've turned spam 
filtering off because there were too many false positives, but I'm not 
aware of mail just going AWOL.

A wrongly addressed message simply won't get to you. It might go to 
another user or be bounced back to the sender or black-holed.

Get the tradesman's email address and send him a message so he can check 
your address or just reply to it.
