I don't know much about !NewsDir apart from what I've deduced by playing
with it. I think Group Management will only repair the groups it knows
about, which are in the groups file.

I've got around this in the past by creating a new group and then copying
all the spoolfiles into the spool directory for the new group, then
repairing that. The other way is to edit the group number for the new
group in groups to point to the missing group, and then repair it. Make
sure that the group name in groups matches that in the Group file. If it
works you can rename the group back to what it should be.

Take a back-up first. I disclaim responsibility if it this all goes
titsup!

It's also a good idea to quit your transport layer (POPstar/Hermes/etc.)
and Messenger because new messages coming in could create havoc.
